God, Your Word has taught us that You exist in Community as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit… The Triune God. And today, in this community… this community that has experienced your provisions, your protection, and your blessings, we bow before you as representatives of this community.
We call out to You today on behalf of our community… mindful of the Psalmists repeated instructions to “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love [Your love, Father] endures forever” (Ps. 136:1).
We thank you for the men and women in our community that serve us, and ultimately serve You, by keeping watch over us. We pray that you would keep safe those that place themselves in harm’s way as firefighters and law enforcement.
We are thankful for those who serve as elected officials in our city and county governments, and we pray that each one would be mindful of the fact that the book of Romans says, “there is no authority except that which God has established… the authorities are God’s servants” (Rom. 13). Please grant that each public official would have a heart that seeks You and serves according to Your guidance.
We are thankful today for the classrooms, both public and private, that You have blessed our community with. Being an educator, coach, or an administrator is a challenging path that many godly men and women have chosen. For them, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would encourage them to continue shaping the children of our community to be who God has created them to be, not who or what society tries to dictate.
The book of Isaiah teaches us to, "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted” (Isaiah 12:4). Forgive us for being more concerned with political correctness than we are with a person’s soul or with bringing glory to Your Name. Forgive us for times when we have observed a moment of silence instead of crying out to You… the one true God who gave us a voice to praise You and to pray to You.
Lord, make us bold to live for You, and humble to love our neighbor. And may our community experience an outpouring of Your Spirit so that generation after generation will be blessed as they follow us following You.
In Jesus’ Name I pray,
Amen
Almost there… enjoying the journey
