Oaxaca, Mexico

Today we spent our second day in Oaxaca, Mexico. I came with our Student Pastor and three representatives from Buckner International. Over the last couple of days we have been visiting various churches and ministry sites in an effort to determine needs, priorities, and possibilities for future mission trips from First Baptist Church of Conroe. Some of the sites we visited included:

  • La Cumbre (Zapotec indigenous village at the top of the mountain)
  • Colonia outside of Oaxaca where Pastor Marcelino is planting a church (see ministry opportunities with children and families)
  • Meet Pastor Victor at his church (Campamento de Dios Church)
  • See where the children’s ministry is currently taking place near the dump
  • See proposed property for construction of community center
  • Drive through the neighborhood to see where families live
  • Visit Pastor Lopez and Mefiboset Shelter Ministry for families of handicapped children receiving therapy at the CRIT rehabilitation center
  • Visit Monte Alban archeological ruins

I hope you will check our FBC website. Information regarding our return trip to Guatemala is posted. We will be posting details regarding plans for Oaxaca as soon as they become available. Click here to view a video clip of Pastor Marcelino and the work the Lord is doing through his church.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field" (Luke 10:2).
